Week 3_Pool 4 Climate Adaptation

Another exciting week of our training Pool 4 Climate Adaptation just happened in Can Tho. With the host of Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho and the enthusiasm from Dutch Trainers (Anet and Denise from Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier) and Vietnamese Trainer (Associated Professor Văn Phạm Văn Trí from CTU) and participants who are civil servants from Can Tho and Kien Giang, we had a fruitful training week with the outcomes are some promising solutions for the case of each province. 

• Kien Giang province:  the erosion and land subsidence in the buffer zone of U Minh Thuong national park; the promising solutions: building the reservoirs, set up pipe line from Hau River to distribute fresh water to the area, building the embankment to protect the canal bank; implementing the agriculture production planning accurately according to the governmental instruction, re-charging the groundwater.
• Can Tho City:  flooding in the Nhon Ai Commune; the promising solutions: enforcing the dike ring, floating house, household relocation, etc…

After the week, the participants will work further on analyzing data of their case by themselves to understand the root of the case and come up with the most feasible solutions for the final action plans.
